The Sunningmead Anniversary event was a great success. Joyce Bryant, Sunningmead’s oldest member and one of the longest serving members cut the ribbon and opened the event alongside the Chairman of Sunningmead, Mark Rattenberry. The Mayor Councilor Slade and his wife were also there.
Tiverton Community Radio hosted the afternoon and were amazing and pulled the event together. There were lots of acts going on outside, alongside various stalls run by the Sunningmead Youth Club and members of the Sunningmead Committee, various other stalls included Body Shop, Utilities Warehouse and a Glitter tattooist/hair braider. The acts consisted of Cheer Dance, Tiverton Singers, Diamond Twirler Majorettes, Sunningmead Youth Club, The West End Warblers, Dance Unlimited, Kalashi Tribal Belly Dancers and singer Chris Standford all brilliantly performed.
Lots of food and drink were served inside by Poppy’s Community Kitchen and Sunningmead Bar and the bouncy castle was set up in the hall. There was also a display in one of the rooms showing pictures of Sunningmead throughout the years, and the Sunningmead Table Tennis club set up a table for people to have a go.
The celebrations went on throughout the evening, curry and paella was on sale and Sunningmead Bar was open. Again there were various acts during the evening, head lined by Dave Whitmore and Louise Cliff and there were other artists including Stephen Lovering, Magician.
The first prize in the grand draw was an Iconia One 10 Tablet which was won by Pam Smith, the second prize, a meal for four people at the Toucan and wine was won by Joyce Bryant! Tom Lindus who runs the Exe Valley Table Tennis Club won the pound in a bucket prize, which was £43 and kindly gave it back to the Centre as a donation.
Sunningmead Community Assocation wish to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who supported the event, the fundraising committee and other committee members, staff, all the volunteers, people and companies that donated raffle prizes, Sunningmead Bar Ltd, Poppy’s and members of the public who took time to come along and make it a great day.

Youth Club Poem
Thank you all for coming here today
A huge big thank you we’d like to say
For making this centre what it is
It really is the biz
Did you know all the clubs that are here
And of course we serve first class beer
We are pleased to support the youth of today
Many Volunteers give their time for no pay
Bingo is another event
Oops 2 little ducks I meant
Painting cooking and lifting weights
All ways to come and make new mates
So thank you Sunningmead association
For your work time and dedication
20 years we celebrate today
So just a huge big thank you is what I say
To all the staff and volunteers
Raise your glass and cheers
20 more years to come
Of providing community fun
