WHAT ARE PARTNERSHIPS AND WHAT DO THEY DO? PDF Print E-mail

Sunningmead Community Association provides a base at the Community Centre for various work and training opportunities provided by other organisations. The following organisations work in partnership with the Association for mutual benefit (they receive a reliable base, a pleasant and safe environment, work provision, access to equipment and useful community contact; the Association in turn can rely on getting work done or training given at little or no cost, which in turn benefits the community):

  • Petroc (newly merged East & North Devon FurtherEducation Colleges)provides a number of educational opportunities at Sunningmead:
    - Education to Employment (E to E): supervised student placements to experience short-term varied volunteer work
    - Catering & Hospitality Team of supervised learning disability students cook and serve our community lunches on Fridays (term time).
    - Providing 'Supported Learning Course'. www.edc.ac.uk

    Providing NVQ Level 2 'Train to Gain Catering & Hospitality Courses' .
  • The Prince's Trust (Tiverton Team) - Organises regular teams of local young people (16-25yrs) doing personal development courses.
  • Home-Start Mid Devon - Running Family Support Courses (Cooking on a Budget, Healthy Eating, Cook & Eat) Home-Start website.
  • Tiverton High School (Art Status) - provides art support for our Art Group and art activities for our Parent & Toddler Groups www.tiverton.devon.sch.uk
  • Tiverton Children's Centre - provides all round support for under 5's activities, including our Parent & Toddler Groups.
  • Devon Youth Services - provide support for our Youth Work Team and Youth Clubs  www.devonyouthservice.org.uk
  • Devon & Cornwall Probation - provide (3 x week) teams to cook/serve lunches (while completing the Train to Gain NVQ Catering & Hospitality Courses), do building & grounds maintenance, gardening, litter picking, cleaning and work suitable for particular trades or skills www.dcpa.co.uk
  • Headway (Brain Injury Support) - Placement for one client+carer to do appropriate voluntary work and build social skills www.headwaydevon.org.uk
  • Same As You - Placement with us for one client+carer to do voluntary work and build social skills
  • Torridge Training - Placements with us for 2 unemployed people seeking work experience with a view to returning to work.

The Association values its partnerships very highly, monitors them regularly and works hard to ensure they work well and benefit of both the partner organisation and our local community.
